India's Great Divide is the Vindhya Mountains. They run from east to west, separating the fertile river valley of the Ganges called the Ganga, from the Deccan Plateau which occupies much of the peninsula of India. It also separates the north, where the predominant languages are Sanskrit - based (brought in by the Indo Iranian herds people about 3,500 years ago), from the Dravidian tongues brought in by a long headed race from the Mediterranean about a thousand years earlier. The South India's coastal plains are backed by the mountains rimming the wedge of the Deccan plateau. On these plains lie the best beaches in South India. On the rimming mountains, the western and eastern ghats are the tea, coffee and spice lands. Beyond these mountains, in the wedge shaped plateau, are great old cities supported by rich farm lands and a culture that has its roots in the almost historical Kumari Continent from where, they claim, civilization spread across the world. The south is gracious, graceful, Old India.

Day 04: Pondicherry-Swami Malai
Drive to Swami Malai ethnic Village Resort visiting en-route Chidambram and Gangaikonda Cholapuram South India Travel .

Day 05: Swami Malai-Tanjore-Trichy
Moning drive to Trichy visiting en-route Tanjore Temple. Arrive Trichy, check-in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Srirangam and Rock Fort.
Day 06: Trichy-Madurai
Travel to South India, Drive to Madurai and check-in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Madurai.

Day 08: Madurai-Kanya Kumari-Kovalam
Travel to South India, Morning drive to Kanya Kumari(Cape Comorin), the last end of India where three Oceans meet. Continue to Kovalam and on arrival, stay for overnight.
Day 09: Kovalam
Day at leisure.
Day 10: Kovalam-Periyar, 276 km
Morning drive to Periyar. Afternoon boat cruise on Lake Periyar to view wildlife.
Day 11: Periyar-Kottayam/backwaters
South India Holiday, Drive to Kottayam and board Kettuvalom, the Houseboat. Sail through the day and spend night on boat.
Day 12: Arrive Alleppey-Cochin
At noon time, disembark Houseboat at Alleppey and proceed to Cochin, 56 km.
