Penang
is located on the north-western coast of Peninsular
Malaysia. It comprises the Penang Island and a strip
on the mainland named Province Wellesley which is linked
by the Penang Bridge, which is the third longest bridge
in the world.
The Island measures a modest 285 sq. kms and is inhabited
by somewhat over a million people who hail from a diverse
blend of cultures and religions. The fine beaches of
Penang are ideal for all types of water sports and its
resorts of international standard have attracted lots
of tourists for holiday and recreation.

Penang Hill is 832 meters from the sea level and is
only accessible by funicular railway. The top of the
hill offers a panoramic view of the city and the coastal
area.
On the top of the hill, there are gardens, a small
cafe shop, a hotel as well as a Hindu temple and a Muslim
mosque.
The Ferringhi Beach is a stretch of sandy beaches
which is a perfect place for sea sports, sun bathing
and pure relaxation. Along the stretch there are world

Kek Lok Si
Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in south East
Asia, built in 1890. The 30 meter pagoda is a mixture
of Chinese, Thai and Burmese architecture.
The "Pure
Cloud Temple", popularly known as snake temple
due to the large number of snakes that stay here is
another famous tourist spot. The Wat Chayamangkalaram
is the temple of the reclining Buddha representing the
Thai architecture. The Penang Bird Farm is also very

and fun ways of exploring the island.
Penang State Museum
Visit the Penang State Museum on Tours to Penang. Penang State Museum is housed in the former Penang Free School built in two stages one in 1896 and the other in 1906. The older half of the building collapsed due to heavy bombing and the museum is located in the other half of the building. The exhibits in the museum are categorized according to customs and traditional costumes, historical sites, houses of worship, traditional trades and important incidents, namely, Penang Riots, Japanese and Occupation. The special rooms display paintings of military man Captain Robert Smith and impressions of William Daniel. The family of Late Dato' Haji Fathil Basheer had donated the original handwritten Quran and traditional Malay weapons. The statue of Sir Francis Light, founder of Penang, built of bronze stands in front of the museum. Beside the statue is the former Penang Hill Railway Carriage, now used as a shop by Penang Heritage Trust to sell antiques, books, postcards and souvenirs.
Suffolk House
Suffolk House is a must see on Tours to Penang. The founder of Penang, Sir Francis Light, built a beautiful garden house called Suffolk House in Penang for his lovely wife Martina. This house was an exact replica of his own house in England where he had spent his childhood. Later, the Suffolk House became he residence of the governors for nearly hundred years. This garden house stands in ruins behind the present Methodist Boy's School. The Suffolk House became a warm and graceful house during the period of Governor Phillips. There are plans to restore and preserve the Suffolk House by the Municipal Corporation.
