Vientiane is both the capital and the largest city of Laos. Located on the banks of the Mekong River, Vientiane has a grace and charm of its own. Buddha Park – Buddha Park feature among the major tourist attractions in Vientiane. It is a sculpture garden, with Hindu and Buddhist statues strewn around. Luang Pu, a shamanist priest is credited with the conceiving and construction of this park. The sculptures are worthy of appreciation, but the postures of the statue have an ambiguity about them. The monumental reclining Buddha is striking in appearance and the best part is that you can surmount it.

Ho Phra Keo - This was constructed by King Setthathirat with the intention of housing the emerald Buddha procured by him from Thailand. The wat as it stands today is a showcase of the religious art that contains a Buddha carved out of a Khmer stone and a wooden replication of the renowned Luang Prabang Buddha.

Lao National Museum – The museum displays the photographs and artifacts that are eloquent testimony of the Lao struggle for gaining freedom from the clutches of the French and the Americans. The exhibits chiefly include the articles used by the national heroes.

Morning Market – Another major tourist attraction in Vientiane is the Morning Market that is locally known as the Talaat Sao. It is the center of Laos commerce and you will stumble upon almost anything you wanted to pick up in the tourist shops.

The other interesting places that you won't want to give a miss include Patuxay, Phra That Luang, That Dam, Wat Ong Teu, Wat Si Muang, and Wat Si Saket .
