Crickets, giant water beetles, grasshoppers, spiders,
big, red ants, bees and wasp larvae- you might wonder

but indeed they feature prominently in the daily diet
of the rural Lao population. They are often eaten uncooked.
Lao preference for wild food is often extended to lizards,
frogs, snakes, song birds and field rats.
