Pakse is the capital city of Champasak region and the largest city in southern Laos. It is positioned on the convergence of the Mekong and Se Don Rivers.

The city is well acknowledged for its hand-woven silks and cotton. The textiles are at haggle prices and can be found at the lively outdoor bazaar along the river.
