Bolaven Plateau is a peaceful retreat away from the hustle bustle of the city. It offers you ultimate peace and tranquility amidst nature.
It is mostly popular for its breathtaking scenic beauty and charming cascading waterfalls. Tad Fane Falls is one of the most beautiful falls in Asia.
Now it is mostly overgrown with wild coffee bushes. Bolaven Plateau was once was once dwelling of French coffee and cardamom makers and farmers.
For centuries before the French people made its settlement Bolaven was a plateau boasting a diverse range of hill tribe's people and wild animals.
Today Bolaven Plateau houses less people and so it is cooler compared to the rest of south Laos.
It is a
beautiful country side nestled amidst nature.
Departure from Green Discovery Laos, Pakse office, at 8:30 am, outside of the city about 12 km, you can visit the Lao coffee company Daohuang, before we drive for about 40 minutes to a local tea and coffee plantation.
Here you can watch how they make a green tea and coffee, and taste test the finished product. After that we drive to overlook the 120 meters Tad Fan waterfall, after relaxing and photographing the fall we trek from the Tad Fan waterfall through dense forest where we can see different birds.
If we are lucky, monkeys and wild goats will appear. We stop for a picnic lunch in the forest, stroll along to Tad Yeaung waterfall, enjoy a beautiful swimming spot (do not forget to bring your change
& clothing) before trek up to Tad Yeaung through coffee farms.
After a rest at the fall, we get on vehicle and drive up to the high land area of the plateau to visit the local market at Paksong, home of Mon-Khmer minority groups and the Lao coffee capital.
There you will learn and experience how coffee is made, collected and roasted in the farm.
We return to the main road to head back to Tad Phasuam waterfall.
You will enjoy visiting ethnic minorities in Southern Laos (Laven, Taoy , Aluk, etc) traditional marriage house, weaving and museum. After that, we return to Pakse at about 5:30 pm.
