Timor Island

The European colonization of Timor Island started in the 16th century, initially the Portuguese and then the Dutch in the west of Timor. Now the west part of Timor Island is a part of Indonesia. The Timor Island is rocky, steep and mountainous and most of the Island is covered with grasses and dry savanna. Kupang is the capital city of East Nusa Tenggara province, which comprise of three major islands - Flores, Sumba and Timor.
