| Arenal
Volcano is the most active volcano not only
in Costa Rica but feature among the active volcanoes
in the world that often spit fire. There has been no
record of the eruption of Arenal Volcano in the historic
times. It was in 1968 that it erupted with a vengeance
and killed 78 people and reducing the small town of
Tabacon into rubbles. Since then Arenal Volcano has
remained active. Eruptions in Arenal Volcano are punctuated
by minutes or hour long breaks. The blowup includes
lumps or fountains of fluid basaltic lava that are ejected
from the central crater. Arenal Volcano is one of the
fascinating tourist attractions in Costa Rica
.
The Arenal Volcano reaches a height
of about 1,633 meters. It is conical in shape and the
diameter of its crater is 140 meters. Though its existence
can be traced back to nearly three thousand years, yet
the geologists tout it as a young volcano possibly because
of the fact that it still continues to show signs of
growth. Though the volcano has lost its fierceness over
time, you can still be witness to the fumes of ash,
orange lava flows and explosions that are characterized
by their suddenness. The explosive eruptions appear
to be a spectacle of lights by night. The red hot boulders
that are ejected out by the volcano will bedazzle you
by their sheer radiance. You can view the perfect cone
anywhere in the vicinity, but a good view of the eruption
requires that you stay put in the lodges that also double
the observatory.

Volcano, Costa Rica and other major tourist
